Former Orlando Pirates and Sundowns star looking for a club in the PSL and NFD

Former Orlando Pirates, Mamelodi Sundowns and Ajax Cape Town right winger is currently looking for a team to play for in the PSL and NFD after he was released by Ajax Cape Town at the end of last season. Lebogang is yet to kick an official match this season as his search for a new club has been fruitless for a number of months now.

Lebogang ‘Cheeseboy’ Mokoena, the former Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder managed to grab the attention of Ajax Cape Town Football Club as they offered him another chance to play football after Sundowns decided not to continue with his services last season but his stay was short as he only managed a season in Cape Town.

He has admitted that he accepted a challenge when he decided to join up with Ajax Cape Town and was very familiar with a lot of players at Ajax. Mokoena is known to be one of the best wingers in the local football and has played the game for a lot of years and most of players he started playing with are no longer playing. His stay at Ajax was not beneficial for the team and that was the reason he was released.

Ajax Cape Town is currently struggling for form in the 2017/18 PSL campaign, Cheeseboy believes that along with Mark Mayambela and Nathan Paulse he would have been able to help the team win matches in the new season as youngsters are struggling to collect points for the team. He said that he was still available if Ajax Cape Town are still interested in his services.

Here is what Lebogang Mokoena told our source “For me, this it was another career challenge as I was coming into a team comprised, mostly, of youngsters and a team that has never really pushed itself in terms of regularly competing for honours. Having done all of that with Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns, I believe I bring experience to the team.

He continues “We need to share our knowledge, guide the younger guys with the help of other senior players in the team, as well as have a positive influence in the team. People are still going to see the best of me and Mark, not forgetting the likes of Nathan Paulse.”

The Ajax Cape Town’s problems started when they allowed Abubaker Mobara and Riyaad Norodien to leave for Orlando Pirates before the start of the new campaign. The gap left by those two senior players is yet to be closed and fans are now complaining about the changes needed in the team.

Cheeseboy started his football career with the likes of Phumudzo Manenzhe, the late Gift Leremi, the Zambian Perry Mutapa, Joseph Makhanya, Bennedict Vilakazi, and a lot more former footballers at Pirates. He was the fan favorite during those days and fans were not happy when he moved from Pirates to rivals Sundown.

He has also played a few games for the national team and is one of the most respected footballers around the country when it comes to discipline. Cheeseboy has never been reported doing bad things away from football and has never went AWOL.

Now Lebogang is looking for a new team and the latest update is that the new NFD side based in Venda called Tshakhuma Tsha Madzivhandila is looking at the possibility of signing him as soon as their technical team and management can reach the agreement to have him in the team as they already have the former Kaizer Chiefs star David mathebula in the team.
