Mamelodi Sundowns struggling after Rhulani left

Mamelodi Sundowns are currently struggling as they are yet to win a single match out of the last five. Since Rhulani Mokoena left for Orlando Pirates things are no longer the same at Sundowns and Pitso Mosimane seems to be having a lot of problems regarding management of players in the team as there are a lot of players who are no longer interested in playing for the team.

Mamelodi Sundowns failed to defend their CAF Champions League trophy after qualifying for the quarter finals by finishing second in their group. The Brazilians are about to make history in the history of South African football by becoming the first South African team to defend their CAF CL title. Pitso Mosimane and the players are on the right track to rewrite the history books of South African football after doing the same when they became the first South African team to play more than 100 CAF matches.

Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club are currently the best team in South Africa and in the whole African continent. This shows that a lot of things are done correctly at Sundowns and a lot of teams should look at Sundowns as their role model in African football. To beat the likes of Zamalek and other African giants is not a child’s play but hard work and determination.

The players currently making up the Sundowns squad are nothing but top quality. They play as a unit and understand each other. The unity built by the technical team is something to write about in the Sundowns team. Pitso has masterminded a team that is not east to beat and if he should continue the way he did, then Sundowns are going to be the reigning African champions for a few more years to come.

Sundowns problems could start with the leaving of their star players. The likes of Keagan dolly are currently heading to Europe. Khama Billiat is also following soon and the 2 were the core players for Sundowns including Captain Hlompho Kekana who is also said to be on his way to China if things go well.

The identified problem might not be a problem as Sundowns has already identified a few players to replace the leaving ones. The acquisition of Thapelo Morena from Bloemfontein Celtic was also part of replacing the leaving players. The other identified players are still playing for their teams but as soon as Sundowns is clear who is leaving and who is staying then they will start with the process of buying those players as the negotiation process has been completed already.

The contract of Anthony Laffor is also expiring at the end of the current season and nothing has been said about is. Percy Tau’s contract is also expiring but Sundowns is not ready to let Percy go and definitely will give him a new improved contract.

Percy has done well for Sundowns and is expected to play an important role in the team’s campaigns of defending the league title and the CAF Champions League. At 22 years of age, Percy has achieved a lot and he is now ready to play for Bafana Bafana. There is no doubt he will do well in the national team jersey as experience against African teams is there.

The best thing Sundowns can do to maintain their current success is to keep a core of their star players although some are on their way to Europe. It will be difficult for them to lose about 4 star players. The team evolved around Dolly, Kekana, Castro, Billiat, and Tau. If those 5 players are to leave then Sundowns will have to start from scratch to build a winning combination again.

At defense Sundowns must add a young energetic central defender as the like of Wayne Arendse and Thabo Nthethe are ageing and becoming slower day by day. A player Rivaldo Coetzee of Ajax Cape Town can help them resolve the problem. He is young and still has a lot to offer. He has international experience and has already played against the best in the world and did very well.

Bafana Bafana are benefiting by how Sundowns are successful in the continent as it was evident when Bafana Bafana defeated Nigeria for the first time in history with a team that is made up by the majority of Sundowns players.

Now Sundowns fans are again calling for Pitso to be sacked as they are saying he has run out of ideas. Pitso answered them that he was not going anywhere as he is looking at changing things at Sundowns. Since the arrival of Oupa Manyisa and George Lebese from Pirates and Chiefs respectively, things are no longer the same as the two failed to bring good results for the team which was doing well.
