Former Chiefs and Pirates coach hated by local fans

Muhsin Ertugral is not one of the coaches who are loved by South African football fans. The Turkish has established a sour relationship with fans of the big teams in the country. The time when he applied for the Bafana Bafana coaching job, fans went crazy as far as saying that they will not attend any Bafana Bafana matches should Muhsin be appointed.

The former Orlando Pirates coach Muhsin Ertugral has applied for the Bafana Bafana coaching job. He has been shortlisted as one of the possible coaches to take over as a Bafana coach. The news came as a shock to many South Africans as the Turkish mentor is known to be a bad communicator with players.

Fans are now hoping for SAFA not to consider him as a coach for the national team and they are also hoping for a coach who is familiar with South African football. They are tired of new coaches who come in and take too long to familiarize themselves with South African football and players.

With the team playing qualifications for the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the fans are only hoping for someone who is not new to the country and according to them there are only few coaches who can do much better for the national team including Ruud Krol.

Muhsin is no longer a coach who is needed in South African football as the current woes at Orlando Pirates are the results of his chop and changing of the team that was doing well under the previous coach. Muhsin should not be considered as a coach for the national team according to fans.

In all the teams he has coached, he has had more than 4 incidents where players were not happy with how he communicates with them. The one incident remembered by many is that of Mabhuti Khenyeza where Muhsin pushed Khenyeza at training and Khenyeza also did the same while they were at Kaizer Chiefs.

Since then he has never seen eye to eye with Khenyeza and the striker decided to leave Chiefs for Ajax cape Town and the following year Muhsin was signed as a coach at Ajax, Khenyeza then left Ajax for another team as he indicated he was not going to be coached by Muhsin Ertugral again.

Abia Nale was also one of the victims and the player decided to leave the team where he was coached by Muhsin. It seems Muhsin has a problem with controlling his anger and it has been a problem since he was introduced to South African football. The recent clash with Edwin Gyimah is also evidence and that has led to Gyimah resign from the Pirates team as of the 16th February.

With him at Bafana Bafana, the disaster would stuck again as most of Pirates players were not happy with him as their coach and for him to be the national team coach would be a disaster to South African football. The selection of players would be affected and that would mean poor performance for the national team.

According to fans, Bafana Bafana needs a coach who is very patient and who does not throw tantrums on the sideline as that causes confusion and poor results. If Muhsin is appointed as the Bafana coach, a lot of players will retire before time for international football and that is not what fans are hoping for now.

Muhsin is now expected back in the country and word doing the round is that he might end up at Ajax Cape Town where things are not going well under Dutchman Stanley Menzo.
