Platinum Stars FC enjoying the fruits of their loyal captain

Platinum Stars are now enjoying the fruits of having a loyal captain in Malawian international Robert Ngambi. The star midfielder rejected a number of top PSL teams to stay with the Rustenburg based team. He was approached by the likes of Kaizer Chiefs, Mamelodi Sundowns and Orlando Pirates but had the guts to say no to all those top teams that every player would one day love to play for.

Robert Ng’ambi is one of the players who remained with their teams for a longer period that normal while offers are coming their way. He has been previously offered a lot of money by top teams in South African football but the Malawian international has opted to stay with Platinum Stars.

Since he moved to the team from Black Leopards, Ng’ambi has been a pillar of strength for the team playing as an attacking midfielder or a defensive midfielder. Robert has also been a full time member of the Malawian national team and has contributed a lot to his home country’s football.

At 30 Robert is one of the senior players in the Platinum Stars team and has never looked back since his arrival from Black leopards in 2011. He is also planning to retire at Platinum Stars as a team captain and this was evident when he turned down a move to Orlando Pirates recently.

Ng’ambi indicated that he is not after money, he just want to play regular football and enjoy his career rather than playing for a top team and never get a chance to play while earning a lot of money. Orlando Pirates were interested in his services and he turned them down indicating he was happy at Platinum Stars.

It seems Robert is a loyal player as he also played for Black leopards for six years arriving in 2005 and only leaving them in 2011 to Platinum Stars. Robert was a pillar of strength for Leopards and he was also a team captain. Sundowns tried to lure him while at Leopards and he refused to leave the Venda based side who are currently campaigning in the National First Division (NFD).

According to him, he is ready to retire at Platinum Stars and after retiring he would like to continue working in the team as either a coach or with the development side. He indicated that he does not like it to move from team to team each and every time. He is also planning to acquire coaching badges so that it becomes easy for him to coach at top flight football.

He also indicated that everything will depend on Platinum Stars management if they are still interested in his services and if not then he would move to any other team who will be interested in his services but not that he will leave them by himself. He has already scored four goals this current season.

Platinum Stars next game is against the wounded Orlando Pirates and they are looking forward to win the match as they are currently lying 13th in the PSL league log. Their current position as a bit worrying to the technical team and they are doing everything they can to collect enough points to qualify for the top 8.

Robert Ng’ambi is one of the most important players in the Platinum Stars team and is ready to face any difficulty with the team but he is quite sure they will manage to qualify for the top 8 and also challenge for a trophy or 2 as they are known to win trophies in the PSL.

Even though the team is struggling under new coach Roger De Sa, things will definitely change as they have already started winning matches starting the previous match where they managed to collect maximum points.
