Former Bafana Bafana coach waiting on the side to lead Orlando Pirates

Former Bafana Bafana coach Shakes Mashaba is waiting on the sidelines to lead Orlando Pirates as the current coach Micho is failing the team the way previous coaches failed. Micho started very well at Pirates after joining them from Uganda where he was coaching the national team. Pirates were recently knocked out of the Telkom Knockout Cup by Polokwane City in the quarterfinals.

Orlando Pirates are now going to decide about the future of their coach Micho after his return to South Africa as he previously coached the team. He has indicated that he was ready for the pre-season with the team but his future will be discussed with management and anything is possible as his job was assessed during the second round of last season where the team even failed to qualify for a top 8 position and also failed to win the Nedbank Cup after reaching the final.

The former Bafana Bafana and Swaziland coach is now free to join any team of his choice after being released by South African Football Association (SAFA) in December 2016. The reason given for his dismissal was with regard to his conduct after a World Cup qualifier game against Senegal in Polokwane where Bafana won the match by 2 goals to 1.

On the other hand Orlando Pirates Football Club are looking for a coach after the resignation of Muhsin Ertugral. Shakes Mashaba could be the right man to lead Orlando Pirates as he is more familiar with the setup and all players currently playing for Pirates.

Shakes was the man who believed in Thamsanqa Gabuza when Orlando Pirates were not affording him enough game time. Shakes was the reason for regain in match fitness and goal scoring touches of Thamsanqa Gabuza.

Shakes selected a number of Orlando Pirates players while in charge of Bafana Bafana and they did extremely well. He is the correct man to change fortunes at Pirates. If Pirates are serious about getting back to their winning ways and collection of some trophies then Shakes Mashaba is the ideal man.

He has done well for South African football and has helped in all spheres including the development of football in the country. The much awaited communication between the Under 23 side and the senior side was introduced by Shakes when he hired Owen the Under 23 coach to be Bafana Bafana assistant coach.

Shakes is the only right candidate for the Pirates coaching job currently after Kjell Jonevret failed the team coming from Sweden in the second round of last season. Fans have since lost faith in Kjell as he has failed in a number of occasions where their team was supposed to have won matches and a trophy which is the Nedbank Cup.

Micho and Rhulani Mokoena are doing a great job at Pirates but they are yet to win a single trophy which means that their jobs are not safe so far. The two are doing well with the team as the team is dominating every opponents they meet in the field of play but failing to convert clear scoring chances. The team managed to sign top quality players but they are yet to show how good they are to don the Pirates jersey.
