Orlando Pirates added a new Zambian striker to their team for the new season

Orlando Pirates FC added another player from Zambia by signing Justin Shonga who is also a national team player for his country Zambia. Justin is yet to score an official goal for Pirates but has shown signs that he is capable of giving Orlando Pirates a lot of goals. The PSL has had  a lot of top quality players from Zambia over the years and a lot of them are still going to brace our country.

Zambia is one of the great African countries which are very talented when it comes to football. The country has had a lot of success in football over the years and most importantly their players are all of top quality. The Zambian Super League is also a competitive league with a lot of top teams and great display of football.

South African football has been boosted over the years by the involvement of Zambian players in the professional ranks’ teams. The current player Collins Mbesuma has just reached the 100 goal mark in the PSL and is still going strong to even be able to break the all-time record of 119 goals. Let us look at the current top Zambian players who are trading in the Premier Soccer League.

Kennedy Mwene

There is no need for us to explain the quality of a goalkeeper he is. He has won the AFCON with Zambia and also won a lot of trophies with Mamelodi Sundowns Football Club. Kennedy is a born leader and his qualities can be seen on the field of play. He is one of the greatest goalkeeper the PSL has ever had.

Collins Mbesuma

Ntofontofo as he is known to South African football fans has scored goals almost in every stadium in South Africa. He is the greatest Zambian player ever to play in the PSL. He has recently broken records and still going strong. Mbesuma is an asset for Zambia and his experience will benefit the Zambian Football in the future.

Lewis Macha

Lewis is one of the talented Zambian footballers according to reports from Mozambique where he played his football before joining Kaizer Chiefs Football Club. He scored a great header on his debut against Orlando Pirates in the Carling Black Label Cup before the start of the new season. South African fans are yet to watch him score more goals in the PSL, but the reason he is playing for Chiefs is good enough to convince them that he is a quality striker.

Perry Mutapa

Perry is one of the best players from Zambia who played for Orlando Pirates during the times of the late Gift Leremi, Lesley Manyathela, Joseph Makhanya, and Benedict Vilakazi. He was very strong ad talented with a lot of skills in midfield where he was given the nickname ‘Principal’ by football fans in South Africa and Zambia.

Isaac Chansa

The Zambian striker also played for Orlando Pirates and also went on to play in Europe for a number of seasons before returning back to South Africa to play alongside the likes of Benni McCarthy. He scored a lot of goals for Pirates and the Chipolopolo national team.
