Former Orlando Pirates midfielder’s ups and downs in football

Andile Jali is currently with the South African national team Bafana Bafana and injured. He was red carded while playing for his Belgian team in a league match. At Bafana Bafana he has not been a regular and also experienced some time not being call up for national duty due to his problems in Belgium where he was sidelined for a number of months.

He was very willing to be part of the Men’s under 23 football team going to take part in the Rio Olympic Games representing South Africa. He has been in contact with the technical team and was very passionate about playing for South Africa as teams are allowed to field 3 overaged players in the tournament.

His Belgian outfit K.V. Oostende replied to the South African Football Association (SAFA) regarding his inclusion in the national team. They indicated that Jali will not be available for South Africa in the Olympic Games. They did not indicate the reasons for denying Jali a chance to showcase his talent in the much recognized football tournament.

Owen Da Gama said the following regarding this issue: “Andile (Jali) was the first player when we were in the Bafana Bafana camp who raised his hand and said ‘coach, if the Under-23s qualify, I want to be the first over-aged player’. We contacted his club on numerous occasions and they were not responding, eventually after numerous e-mails and letters that we sent to the club, they eventually responded and told us he cannot go.

Rumors are that Andile Jali might also be one of the best options as his contract is running out in 6 months’ time in Belgium. One of our sources informed us that Chiefs have been in a few meetings with Prosport International, the company that resents Andile Jali for contract negotiations.

Chiefs is known for playing best football and winning trophies is their hobby. The 2015/2016 season was very hard for Chiefs as they struggled to beat their arch-rivals Orlando Pirates in more than one matches. Chiefs’ 3 – 1 loss to Pirates was the first game were supporters were very disappointed.

Chiefs failed to beat the so called “smaller teams” in the league as they lost to Chippa United by 2 goals to 0 in their last 3 games of the Absa Premiership. It was a bad struggle for a team of Chiefs’ caliber.

Amakhosi is looking at beefing their squad with top players from local teams and the rest of the continent. It is being speculated that Chiefs are about to sign one of the best players from Mamelodi Sundowns. Our source can reveal that Teko Modise is on the wanted list of Amakhosi.

It is rumored that some players who were given their clearances by Chiefs were unhappy how the whole process was done. One player was reported as saying the team is not in good management under Bobby Motaung. “Bobby treats us like children, how can he tell me that I am no longer part of the team through an email instead of calling me to the office and explain the situation?” the player said.

The plan to release players at Amakhosi is the second team roll-up in the Absa Premiership. Orlando Pirates did the same thing when they appointed Roy Barreto as their coach in the early 2000s. During that period Pirates released about 16 players and signed 15 new players during that period.

Andile is unsure of his future in Europe and could be heading back to South Africa with a number of top teams interested in having him in their teams.
