Former Kaizer Chiefs star is linked with a permanent move to Cape Town City as Benni McCarthy and management are interested in bringing the player to the mother city. Masango is currently in Denmark where he is not enjoying his football as the team he plays for is not using him.
Supersport United Football Club failed to lure Mandla Masango to Pretoria. Randers midfielder, Mandla Masango, has returned to Denmark to reunite with his club in the Danish Superliga after he stopped training with SuperSport United.
Stuart Baxter has admitted that he’d love to have the former Kaizer Chiefs winger in his ranks as they look to try and stay on top of the Absa Premiership, however, also explained that he was probably out of their price range and that he was only training with Matsatsantsa to stay fit.
Now, according to Randers’ Sports Manager, Ole Nielsen, Masango is back in Denmark now, although he says that he doesn’t know the way forward at this stage. Nielsen told our source, “He arrived back today… It’s difficult to say what is the way forward, it’s up to Mandla. For now he will be training with the youth team again.”
There are now around two weeks left of the January transfer window, and Masango will no doubt be keen to sort out his future – whether it lies at Randers or not.
Mandla Masango has struggled to get game time this season at his club Randers FC. He has been relegated to the reserve side and that did not go well with Mandla who was also part of the South African national team. He has now resurfaced at Supersport United under the guidance of former Chiefs mentor Stuart Baxter.
Mandla has been training at United for a while now and rumours are that he is only awaiting a permanent move to Supersport United come January 2017. It is said that he does not want to return to Randers FC after the treatment they showed him while playing for them.
Stuart Baxter is the man who rescued Masango’s career at Chiefs as he was on the transfer list and Stuart gave him a chance to shine. He then made a name for himself and earned a Bafana call up and then a move to Europe which is now a nightmare as things started very well until the team decided not to use him anymore.
Former Chiefs players at Supersport United includes Riyaad Pieterse, Morgan Gould, Reneilwe Letsolonyane, and Tefu Mashamaite. All these players were part of Baxter’s team that won the league two seasons ago including Mandla Masango.
With SuperSport United not interested in him anymore, it seems Cape Town City Fc are alone in the race to sign the former Bafana Bafana star who scored a few games for the national team during his time. Mandla cannot wait to be back in the PSL as he has been praying for a team to buy him out of his contract in Denmark. Now that Benni McCarthy is interested in Mandla, one player must be sacrificed in the team to cater for Mandla’s arrival.
Fans cannot wait for the January transfer window period to see one of their stars back playing football in front of them. He impressed during his loan stint with Supersport United and wished to stay permanently but it was not meant to be due to the price tag that Randers were asking from SuperSport United
