There are a number of PSL players who are to face the law as their behaviour has been questionable. These players are the ones who are supposed to be role models to a lot of youngsters out there. The young football players who are growing up are supposed to learn from these stars they watch each and every week on TV.
Some of players in South African football have been in trouble just any normal person over the years. Most of them have been in situations which were very dangerous while others were having personal problems that led them to do certain things that were reported not good for their reputation and as role model to young people growing up looking at them like their heroes, it becomes a bit out of hand and some were even arrested. Let us look at the players who have been in trouble in the country.
Orlando Pirates defender is now facing jail after he was caught driving over 200km/h last month. He is facing jail as there is no other sentence for the speed. He was linked with being the captain of Pirates before Thabo Matlaba was appointed. Jele might be jailed for not less than 6 months.
The Orlando Pirates defender was reported drunk one day as he crashed his BMW car to a man’s car. He asked the man to take his car to his home as he was not allowed to bring damaged cars to the place where he stayed. The man kept the car from last year until this year when the man approached the media to help him trace Ayanda so that he could help him fix his car and also to come and collect his damaged BMW. It was reported earlier this year that Ayanda was yet to fix the man’s car and he has not collected his damaged car from the man’s place.
The former Supersport United and Orlando Pirates midfielder was found guilty of using banned substance in one of the official games he played for Pirates. He was then banned from football for 5 years and his contract at Pirates was terminated as a result. He tried appealing the ban but failed and is now serving his ban. It remains to be seen whether he would be accepted back on the field of play after his ban ends.
Thandani and other Pirates players were exposed in social media after their naked photo they took while taking a bath was spread all over the social networks. The players apologized to the country as a whole after the incident and they were very ashamed of such a photo.
The Pirates midfielder was reported arrested this week after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend in the Vaal area after discovering a Whatsapp contact which was saved with the name ‘Love’ on her phone. The Pirates man assaulted his girlfriend because of that and she reported him to the local police station after the incident. He was later released on bail as the case was also dropped by the girlfriend after an agreement with Rakhale and the two families.
Masibusane Zongo who was in the books of Mamelodi Sundowns before moving to Platinum Stars was reported a number of times as missing from the team. He did the same thing for a number of times until he was released from his contract at Platinum Stars. After being released by the North West side, he managed to get a contract at a NFD team Royal Eagles and also went missing again until the NFD team released him earlier this year.
After his wayward behaviour, the police were looking for him for a rape case that was opened against him. Up to so far we have not heard the update on the matter. If he gets arrested then he may also kiss the game of football goodbye as no other team will sign him with such a bad discipline record.
Rivaldo Coetzee is also facing to be jailed after he was caught in Cape Town for driving the speed which was way over the limit. He has signed for Sundowns and looking forward to play for his new team but he has to face his problems back in Cape Town.
