PSL players to look for new teams in the January transfer window

The January transfer window period is around the corner as a lot of players will be free and looking for teams to play for. Some players will be released by their teams as they did not do as expected while others will be released as their contracts will not be renewed come end of the season.

Let us look at top players who are going to look for new teams for the new PSL season or the January transfer window period. The new season usually start in August every year and that means the players must all be registered with their team in order to take part in the new season. The registrations must be in the offices of the PSL no later than the first day of August each season.

Rooi Mahamutsa who was formerly with Mpumalanga Black Aces and Orlando Pirates was given a six months contract at Free State Stars which is ending at the end of June. He is still waiting to hear if the team will offer him a new contract or not. He has played almost every match since joining them in January and was vital in making sure the team scored a few goals and defended some.

Teko Modise who is only left with a month at Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking for a new team as he struggled to get game time at Sundowns and his contract was not renewed while other players were renewing theirs with the Sundowns team. Teko will find a team to play for before the start of the new season as he is very experience and is still fit to play a few more years in his career. Teams will definitely sign him but his higher salary could scare them as they cannot afford him should he stick to his original salary that he is currently earning at Sundowns.

Siyanda Xulu of Kaizer chiefs is recently unhappy as he is yet to play under Steve Komphela at Chiefs. The defender is one of the highest earning players at Chiefs but on the field of play he is the lowest as it has been tough for him to even make a match day squad. Most of the time he spent on the stands as a fan and that has prompted him to challenge for the team to release him before the start of the new season although he still has another season left on his contract with Chiefs.

Thabiso Kutumela who is currently with Orlando Pirates is another unhappy man at Pirates. He recently indicated that he was ready to play for any other team than Orlando Pirates in the new season as he has played a few games for the team and was only used as a substitute. Kutumela could head back to Baroka FC should the Limpopo side manage to secure their PSL status in a game against Highlandspark.

There are still more players who could be without a team in the new season as the teams are releasing players who are not playing regularly and also cutting on costs as it is very expensive to keep players not being used. Some players might head to the NFD while others might get teams in the PSL.
