Lebogang Manyama’s football career has not been an easy one. He was rejected by a number of top teams previously until he reintroduced himself to South African football. He has been doing well all along until he played for the then Mpumalanga Black Aces under Muhsin Ertugral where he was the best player alongside former Orlando Pirates striker Tendai Ndoro. After that he joined Cape Town City FC after they bought the status of Mpumalanga Black Aces.
Lebogang Manyama was one of the most wanted players in the PSL. He showed football lovers around the country that he was by far one of the best players in South African football. He was crowned the PSL leading goal scorer for the 2016/17 season and to achieve that as a midfielder is something special as the award was eyed by strikers from all 16 PSL teams.
He enjoyed his football at Cape Town City FC where he was the team captain. He joined the team from the then Mpumalanga Black Aces and since then he has not looked back as he led the team to their first trophy in their first season by winning the Telkom Knockout. Manyama’s value has tremendously increased over the years and as a result he is becoming too expensive day by day.
While playing football a few seasons ago, Lebogang Manyama went for trials at Kaizer chiefs Football Club where he was not given a chance to showcase his talent. He was not even given a minute to showcase his talent and was told to leave the Chiefs village, Naturena. The young boy went home in Soweto a disappointed boy and was very angry at the treatment he receive at the Chiefs village.
Instead of giving up, he started training very hard until he was afforded a chance to play professional football where he played for a few teams and ended up playing for Ajax Cape Town and that is where his talent started blossoming. All other PSl’s top sides started noticing Lebogang Manyama while playing for Ajax Cape Town. He won a trophy with Ajax before moving to the then Mpumalanga Black Aces under the leadership of Muhsin Ertugral.
Before moving to Black Aces, Kaizer chiefs came knocking at Ajax Cape Town’s door for the services of Lebogang Manyama and surprisingly the lad said no to a move to Chiefs. He meant what he was saying as deep in his heart he wanted nothing to do with Chiefs. Fans around the country were surprised including his agent. Lebogang said no to a move to Chiefs for one reason, they did not give him a chance to showcase his talent when he went there for a short trial. They noticed his talent as a result of another team giving him a chance to showcase his talent which is something he was not expecting form a team like Kaizer Chiefs which is regarded as a top brand in African football although they are yet to win the CAF Champions League.
Lebogang Manyama was linked with a possible move to Mamelodi Sundowns where he was going to earn the same salary with a South African player playing football in Europe. Pitso Mosimane has indicated from the start of last season that he wanted Lebogang to join him at Sundowns as soon as possible. Lebogang seemed very interested in joining Sundowns as he has not said anything negative about the reports linking him to Mamelodi Sundowns.
Now that Manyama is playing his football in Europe he has improved tremendously. He is now a regular at Bafana Bafana and also enjoying regular football at his Turkish team. Lebogang is determined to move higher than his current situation where he is aiming to play for one of the best teams in the world. He is planning to play in Spain in future as it has been his dream to play in Europe.
