Bidvest Wits FC are to offload a number of players in the January transfer window period. A number of players who are deemed surplus to requirements are facing a move out of the team either on loan or permanently. Players who are yet to feature for the Gavin Hunt coached side are going to be released come January 2018. Let us look at the players who are going to be released below.
The Bidvest Wits team has a lot of players who are currently playing well and that is not a guarantee that they will be part of the team for the second round of the 2017/18 PSL season. There are players who were playing regularly in the team who are still yet to renew their contracts which are ending at the end of the season. If those contracts are not renewed, those players may join any team of their choice as they are allowed to enter into a contract agreement in their last 6 months of their contracts.
Deelon Claasen who joined Bidvest Wits from the beginning of the season after spending time in Europe, signed a 1 year contract at Wits and it is now coming to an end at the end of the season. The midfielder was vital in making sure that Wits won the league as he scored a few goals and also assisted in a few. Deelon should be retained by Bidvest Wits for continuity but if not possible then Supersport United are waiting for his services as they are also interested in him.
Kaizer Chiefs on the other hand is also looking for an experienced midfielder which means that Deelon could be Chiefs’ target after impressing at Wits. Although he came to Chiefs when he moved from Europe, Deelon was not signed at Chiefs due to some unknown decisions by the technical team yet the team is still struggling in the goal scoring department. As Deelon has now impressed all football spheres around the country, a permanent move to Chiefs is also a possibility.
Another player who is facing transfer from the Bidvest Wits team is Elias Domingos Pelembe. The Mozambican international has been reported missing from the Wits team on a number of occasions since joining the team from Mamelodi Sundowns. It is believed that Elias never returned in time for Wits when called up for the Mozambican national team where he is the team captain.
Gavin Hunt indicated that Elias has been doing the same mistakes since the time they were still together at Supersport United a few seasons ago. It has come clear to the fans that Gavin as a disciplinarian would consider letting Elias go at the end of his contract in June. If Elias should leave the team then he may find it difficult to get a new one as his age and money demands are a bit high.
The new signing from Free State Stars is also facing the exit door at Wits and could be released and return to Free State Stars as the left back position has been made permanent by the Bafana Bafana international Sfiso Hlanti.
