The left back position is one of the special positions in the field of play and mostly played by left footed players but there are teams having right footed players playing in that position. Mamelodi Sundowns have spent millions luring an Algerian left back Fares Hachi who joined them last season before the closing of the January transfer window. There are a lot of good left backs in the PSL but we will discuss the best left backs in the league as per performances in their teams.

Let us discuss the best left backs in the PSL:

Sfiso Hlanti

Sfiso Hlanti is a left footed player but has made the left back position his own at Bidvest Wits Football Club. He has also earned himself a place in the national team Bafana Bafana for the same position. He is one of the best left backs in the country right now and destined for higher achievements in his football career although his team Wits are unable to defend their PSL title.

Teboho Langerman

Teboho started as a midfielder with Bidvest Wits and was one of the best players in midfield which prompted Mamelodi Sundowns to sign him. Surprisingly Pitso Mosimane had his own ideas about Teboho and started using him as a let back. Now Teboho has managed to make the position his at Sundowns and has also been called in the national team to play as a left back. The team has won the CAF Champions League with Teboho playing as a left back and scoring a few goals for the team.

Marc Van Heerden

The former Chippa United and Amazulu left back has now joined Orlando Pirates from Chippa United. Marc is one of the talented left backs in the PSL. He has also scored a lot of free kicks while playing as a left back. He is now facing stiff challenge at Pirates with the likes of Thabo Matlaba and Patrick Phungwayo still fighting for the position. Mark was previously part of the national team setup and is now on track to get back to the national team again.

Mzikayise Mashaba

Mzikayise is one of the best left backs. Although he only played when Langerman was injured or suspended, Mzikayise has shown a lot of potential and did his best in the position for Mamelodi Sundowns. The arrival of Fares Hachi has pushed Mzikayise to a point where he has been linked with a move to Kaizer Chiefs.

Tshepo Masilela

The legendary Tshepo has played all his football matches as a left back and was never used in any other position. He has also played in Europe as a left back before coming back to Kaizer Chiefs. Tshepo also played for the national team and is now facing the possibility of signing a new contract at Chiefs.

He played for the then Thanda Royal Zulu before joining Pirates and is now a regular under Micho and Rhulani. He is a future Bafana Bafana player. he is the younger brother of Tshepo Masilela of Kaizer Chiefs.
