Kaizer Chiefs fans vs Steve Komphela

Kaizer Chiefs coach Steve Komphela is once again in the spotlight after the team was knocked out of the Telkom Knockout Cup and also losing PSL matches they were supposed to have won to be able to put them in an advantage of winning the PSL title. Fans are now divided over him as Chiefs coach.

A few weeks ago Chiefs fans were praising Steve Komphela for turning Chiefs into a team to beat in the second round of the PSL season. Fans all over the country were praising him left and right up until this week when the same fans changed tune about the same man.

Some Chiefs fans are now asking for him to resign as a Chiefs coach after failing the team once again. The team is yet to win a trophy under Steve Komphela for a second season now. Chiefs fans are used to winning trophies and as drought has hit them they now seek for anything they could blame and use it to take out their frustrations.

As things stand Chiefs are facing another season without a trophy as they are now out of the Nedbank Cup and also out of the race for the PSL title. The league is now contested by 4 teams and all those teams are fighting very hard to win it. Chiefs should just concentrate on trying to occupy second position but that could also be difficult as the other 4 teams are also in the challenge for another top position should they miss the championship.

Steve Komphela was forced to use a young goalkeeper who was playing for the first team for the first time because all his senior goalkeepers were out injured. Itumeleng Khune was injured during a game against Supersport United while Brilliant Khuzwayo has been injured for a few months now. Bruce Bvuma was in goals when Chiefs lost to Cape Town City FC.

Recently the team doctors are trying their best to make sure Khune is available for their match against Supersport United in the weekend. If possible then they will have to go into the match with an inexperienced goalkeeper again and that could prove to be tough for them against high flying Supersport United team that knocked them out of the Nedbank Cup last weekend.

Riyaad Pieterse who is now playing for Supersport United was their goalkeeper until he decided to join the Pretoria based side last season after he was not being given enough game time at Chiefs. He is now doing well at Supersport United and is about time when the national selectors picks him to take care of goal for Bafana Bafana.

As things stand Chiefs are now forced to use 2 inexperienced goalkeepers. The boys are still young for PSL matches especially during the tough period of the PSL season. The boys should try their best to impress their bossed but the likes of Jeremy Brockie are very dangerous strikers who are also a nightmare for their senior goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune.

Steve Komphela is facing a mountain in front of him. The man has tried his best but nothing seems to have worked. If he is given another chance maybe he will be able to deliver this season.
