PSL stars who were regarded surplus to requirements but managed to turn things around

There are a lot of players who started their careers on fire at their teams and as time went on they were deemed surplus to requirements by their teams as they were shown the exit door. Those players went on to play for other teams and did well for their new teams. The supporters are now worried on how their teams lost top quality players and who was responsible for those players to leave. We will look at the top PSL players who are doing very well for their current teams after being rejected by their original teams.

Joseph Molangoane (Formerly with Orlando Pirates)

Molangoane was introduced to South African football by Orlando Pirates. He came in and did well for the team. The young man was given little time on the field of play by the then Pirates technical team although in all games he played he did well. It was a surprise to Pirates fans when it was announced that Molangoane was released permanently by Pirates. He went to play for Chippa United and impressed a lot of top teams including Pirates.

Kaizer Chiefs showed interest in him a few seasons ago while playing for Chippa United. They ended up signing him during the January transfer window. He is currently one of the key players for the team and has scored in all games he played for Chiefs. His performance is one of the reasons Chiefs are on form now and they are still yet to lose a game this year. He recently scored a goal in a league clash against his former team Orlando Pirates.

William Twala (Formerly with Orlando Pirates)

As a youngster, William’s dream was to play for Orlando Pirates. His dream was realized when he was signed by Pirates a few seasons ago. He played as a winger and did well although he was never afforded enough game time on the field of play. He stayed on and was used as a substitute in most games. He was never given enough game time to prove his worth at pirates and was later released permanently. He went on and signed for Chippa United where he did well until he caught the eye of Kaizer Chiefs technical team.

William was then signed by Kaizer Chiefs before the start of the new season and has done well for Amakhosi since joining them. He has also given Pirates a lot of problems whenever they teams meet. William is one of the key players for Chiefs now and his career is on the right path.

Dove Wome (Formerly with Sundowns and Supersport United)

The Togolese player came to South Africa with a hope of doing well in the PSL. He played great football and was signed by Mamelodi Sundowns. The Pretoria side did not use him permanently until they decided to release him a few seasons ago. He then went to join the other Pretoria side Supersport United. At Supersport United, Dove was used during the last 10 to 5 minutes of each and every game until he was permanently benched by Stuart Baxter after his arrival as Supersport United’s coach.

He is now on loan at Pirates and has scored in each and every game he played for the Soweto side. Dove is looking forward to a permanent move to Pirates as he has been given enough game time and his contribution is there for everyone to see.

Thela Ngobeni (Formerly with Kaizer Chiefs and Mamelodi Sundowns)

Thela was promoted to the first team by Kaizer Chiefs a long time ago. He was never used enough in the first team as Itumeleng Khune has been doing well for Amakhosi over the years. He stayed long enough and was not in the picture for Amakhosi until he was snatched by Mamelodi Sundowns who also never used him in their first team.

He is now at Free State Stars and doing very well. He was the reason Chiefs were knocked out of the Telkom Cup earlier this season. He is showing that he was not given a chance to prove himself at Chiefs and Sundowns. Thela is now hoping for a permanent move to the Free State side as he is now playing regular football at the team.
