South African football has grown so much that nowadays it is very difficult to tell which team is the best and which one is the worst when it comes to talented players’ comparison in all teams in the Premier Soccer League (PSL). All teams in the PSL are now equal when it comes to competing in the field of play.
Although there are those teams with a lot of fans than others, on the pitch is becomes a different story as each team is allowed to field their best starting eleven. The talent that we have watched during the PSL campaigns over the past seasons has been amazing and we are guaranteed a lot more from all teams as they are currently busy strengthening their squads with all the available talent in the local market and around the continent, with only a few players coming from Europe and other continents.
Mamelodi Sundowns has recently signed a Brazilian defender Ricardo Dos Santos, adding to the Columbian striker Leonardo Castro who has been very instrumental in their successful 2015/2016 season. Previously they had a Dutch player in the name of Alje Schutte before he left for home at the end of 2014/2015 season after winning a few trophies with the Pretoria giants. We are just waiting for the day to watch the Ricardo in action to see if he is of top talent. The team has top talent in Khama Billiat, Keagan Dolly, Thlompho Kekana and the rest of the squad.
Supersport United on the other hand has two players from New Zealand and they are top quality players. They are Jeremy Brockie and Michael Boxall. The 2 players have been very instrument al for Supersport United and they helped the team to finish the 2015/2016 PSL season with a Nedbank Cup trophy. Brockie is also part of the New Zealand national team which shows that he is a top class player. The team has also added new signings in Reneilwe Letsolonyane, Riyaad Pieterse and Keagan Ritchie, all from Kaizer Chief Football Club.
Wits University has signed James Keene. The player is from England and he came to South Africa to play for Kaizer Chiefs while Stuart Baxter was still their coach, but Chiefs decided not to sign him as they also parted way with Stuart Baxter. Keene has proven to be one of the best strikers in the PSL and he helped Wits to finish the 2015/2016 PLS season at the top four, with banging a lot of important goals.
Free State Stars has a Belgian striker in the name of Andrea Fileccia. The striker has been scoring a lot of goals for the Free State side until he got injured in their league game before the end of the 2015/2016 season. Fileccia was very instrumental for the Free State side. He helped the team to retain their PSL status and they were doing very well before he was injured. A lot is still expected from the Belgian striker who was signed at the start of the 2014/2015 season and was not afforded game time in his debut season until the arrival of the Italian coach Giovani Solanis. The team has not signed any new player as of end of June 2016.
Orlando Pirates have signed a lot of talented player in Thabiso Kutumela, Arbubaker Mobara, Riyad Norodien, and others. They are also looking forward to acquire the services of Steven Pienaar who is currently in Johannesburg. The buccaneers are gearing for the new season with a talented squad. The talent that they have should at least win them the PLS title and at least 2 additional trophies. The team has a new coach in Muhsin Ertugral who was coaching Mpumalanga Black Aces last season.
Other teams are also signing players. The PSL new season will be very interesting and the league if filled up with top talent which makes it one of the best leagues in the world.
