Kaizer Chiefs seemingly have no intentions of letting Gustavo Paez leave the club, with indications that they’re weighing up a new contract for the Venezuelan striker.
The 27-year-old forward still has over a year left to run on his current deal at Naturena, although with Pitso Mosimane believed to be sniffing around it appears that they are eager to try and secure his long-term future.
There has been talk of a potential swap involving Paez and fellow South American, Leonardo Castro, but that could be complicated by the fact that Castro is free at the end of the season while Paez is not.
As reported in the latest issue of Soccer Laduma, the crew has been informed that Chiefs are looking to try and make sure that they don’t lose Paez at all, and are considering opening up contract talks sooner rather than later regarding a new deal.
The forward has played in 13 of Chiefs’ 14 Absa Premiership games so far this season, starting 10 of them, although while he was given another start against Platinum Stars last weekend, he is still waiting for his first goal since September.
