Orlando Pirates’ players were given time off straight after their final fixture of the year against Free State Stars.
Pirates ended the year on a low as they were dealt a third defeat of the season when they went down 2-1 to Ea Lla Koto on Saturday.
The result saw the Buccaneers drop to sixth position on the Absa Premiership standings, with 20 points from 15 games, having managed only four wins thus far.
Coach Micho Sredojevic has since allowed his charges to disperse a few extra days before Christmas, while other Johannesburg-based clubs continue to train this week.
According to the club’s media officer Thandi Merafe, the team is only set to reassemble next Thursday, December 28, as they commence preparations for the second half of the campaign, which kicks off in the first week of January.
Pirates will host third-placed Baroka at Orlando Stadium in their opening clash of 2018, which is scheduled to take place at 20h15 on Saturday, January 6.
