Happy Jele will be entering into the last six months of his contract at the turn of the new year, and while he is part and parcel of the Buccaneers setup, his long-term future is yet to be decided.
Jele has been with Pirates for over 10 years and was part of the successful side that dominated PSL football some six years ago. He has seen the side’s fortunes change in recent times and while he is still on their books, his game time has dropped considerably over the last couple of seasons.
His contract with Bucs will expire in just over six months time and although Pirates’ administrative officer, Floyd Mbele, recently told the Siya crew that the club will not be rushed into contract talks with the player, as his future is uncertain at this point in time.
“Pirates have still not renewed Happy Jele’s contract. His contract is coming to an end at the end of the season,” said the source.
Jele’s former defensive partner, Rooi Mahamutsa, left the club last season after spending eight years with the Soweto giants.
