Kaizer Chiefs strongman Willard Katsande says Amakhosi must focus on keeping their house in order at Naturena rather than worry about their title rivals.
Chiefs have struggled for consistency like most teams in the Premiership this season but entered the festive break in third place on the table with 22 points from 15 games – six points behind leaders Mamelodi Sundowns, who have a match in hand.
Steve Komphela’s men ended 2017 with a 1-0 win over Ajax Cape Town in Durban as they recorded back-to-back league victories for the first time since April.
Komphela’s charges will be back at training on Wednesday to prepare for their first fixture of 2018 against SuperSport United at Lucas Moripe Stadium on January 6.
“You know the league is a marathon,” says Katsande, who missed the match against former club Ajax at Moses Mabhida Stadium through suspension.
“We are just focusing one step at a time and as Kaizer Chiefs we are just focusing in-house. We don’t have to look beyond our house. All we need to do is to put our house in order and improve us as Kaizer Chiefs.
“All we know is that this league has been inconsistent. We just need to hit the right form for us to win one, two, three games in a row and we are not very far from number one spot,” concludes the Zimbabwean midfielder.
