Our source has been informed by a reliable Siya source that Kabelo Mahlasela has not reported for training with Bloemfontein Celtic, amidst being heavily linked with an exit from the club.
It was reported last month that Chiefs were leading the likes of Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns in the race for Mahlasela’s signature after Siya sources indicated that the player had opted against extending his stay with Celtic.
It was also revealed that Amakhosi were preparing a pre-contract for the player, where they would look to secure his signature in the current January transfer window period when he enters the final six months of his deal with Celtic.
Celtic reported back to training today after the festive weekend and Siya sources have informed Soccer Laduma that Mahlasela was a noticeable absentee from Head Coach Veselin Jelusic’s squad.
Indications are that the 26-year-old could be edging closer to a move away from the Free State, with Amakhosi believed to be the favourites to land the midfielder’s signature.
Now, it remains to be seen whether Chiefs will be successful in concluding a deal for the player in the coming days or weeks.
