Jomo Cosmos owner and head coach Jomo Sono believes the club's poor start in 2018 will soon come to an end.
Ezenkosi, who were second on the National First Division table at the start of the new year and four points behind leaders Highlands Park, have dropped to the third place. They are eight points behind the leaders having gone their last three matches without a victory.
Cosmos have suffered losses to Real Kings and Uthongathi FC, and have also played to a draw with Cape Town All Stars.
At the beginning of the current transfer window, the club sold two of their best players in Linda Mntambo and Mxolisi Macuphu to Absa Premiership side Chippa United, but Sono says as a club they are still happy with the position they find themselves in.
“It’s football – you win, you lose and you draw.We expected the slump because somewhere we were nine games unbeaten. In football you have a slump, there will be a slump. I don’t care whether you are Barcelona or [Real] Madrid or [Mamelodi] Sundowns, you will have a slump somewhere. So we are at the slump but we will get over it starting from this weekend.”
The former Bafana Bafana coach says there are no plans to sign any replacements for Linda Mntambo and Mxolisi Macuphu, who joined PSL side Chippa United earlier this month.
On Sunday Cosmos will have a chance to reclaim their second spot when they host eighth-placed Witbank Spurs at Vosloorus Stadium.
