Mamelodi Sundowns head coach, Pitso Mosimane says that the way his side approached the game against Kaizer Chiefs was just to show respect to Amakhosi, while also strategising his title challenge.
The two giants played to a goalless draw at the FNB Stadium on Saturday, with Mosimane explaining why he chose not to go all out and attack for three points.
“For me, it is just to show respect and also, sometimes I look at Mayweather fighting and he doesn’t have to be going toe-to-toe with everybody but he retired undefeated,” Mosimane told the media at the post-match press conference.
“So, is he a good boxer? Tonight? We were there, just that we didn’t want to go to three centre backs when they had the ball, we had to keep Shaba busy.
“So, the year before last year when we won the league, we went to Cape Town, played Ajax, Ajax was all over us. We had Chiefs after Ajax I remember. Half-time I told the guys, you see this game if you want to look at Ajax and say you want to fight with them, they were a better team on the day, we took apart.
“After that, we beat Chiefs, we only had to beat Tuks and we beat Tuks and won the league. So, for me it is a good tactical move and good decision.”
