“We gave them a gift from South Africa to Morocco”.

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Pitso Mosimane says CAF Champions League holders Wydad Casablanca played for a point, and accused their goalkeeper of ‘killing time.

The Brazilians began their Champions League campaign with a 1-1 draw against the Moroccan outfit on Saturday evening.

Mosimane believes they threw away a perfect opportunity to beat the competition holders.

“We let them off the hook, one mistake at the back. It’s nearly the same mistake we made against Maritzburg United. We gave them a gift from South Africa to Morocco,” Mosimane told SuperSport after the game.

“They’re happy, we pushed them back. They can’t take the pressure, they played for a point that’s smart but their goalkeeper kills time. He reminds me of one of the goalkeepers in South Africa. But its okay we tried to play.

“It’s the same way. Esperance and all of them have come here and parked the bus, what can you do. We tried, these are the champions of Africa and we put them under pressure.

“But we tried, we could have done it better but I’m not unhappy with the performance of the boys. It’s mistakes, we pay hefty for our mistakes.”
