Orlando Pirates have confirmed that they have parted ways with one of their defenders.
Since joining Pirates from Chippa United in January last year, Van Heerden struggled for game time at the Soweto giants. With the Buccaneers having recently added nine new players which include defenders to their squad for the new season, a decision has been taken to part ways with Van Heerden.
“Orlando Pirates would like to confirm that following a meeting with ’s representatives last week, both parties have agreed to mutually terminate the 30-year old’s current contract. Orlando Pirates Football Club would like to wish Marc the best of luck in his future endeavors,” Pirates confirmed on the club’s official website.
The left-back made only two starts in the league for Bucs during the 2017/18 season. Innocent Maela, who rejoined the club from a loan stint with Thanda Royal Zulu made the left-back position in coach Milutin Sredojevic’s team his own.
