Gift Motupa has left Chippa United to join a team in Gauteng.

In a surprise turn of events, Gift Motupa has left Chippa United to sign with Bidvest Wits.

Motupa was confirmed as a signing for Chippa only on May 15, with the player having finished a season-long loan deal with Baroka FC from Orlando Pirates.

It was confirmed that the 23-year-old attacking midfielder has left the Eastern Cape to join Wits in Gauteng.

Motupa was spotted at Wits on Monday in the company of his agent Abbie Rasimphi from Liberate Resources Sports Management.

“Gift Motupa has joined Wits. It’s a four-year deal. I know it’s difficult to believe because the boy was yet to kick a ball in an official match for Chippa. Football is a business and you can’t blame anyone for doing business if it’s good for them,” said the source.

Contacted for comment, Rasimphi declined to comment and referred the Siya crew’s enquiries to Chippa and Wits.

“If you want any information you must talk to the two clubs,” said Rasimphi.
