Orlando Pirates are looking at bringing another winger to the club in the January transfer window.
As reported in the past weeks, both Mamelodi Sundowns and Pirates have been keeping an eye on Craig Martin from Cape Town City. However, the Citizens acted quickly to tie the player down on a new deal amidst interest from their rivals in the Premier Soccer League.
Pirates are considering revisiting their interest in the player in the upcoming January transfer window next year, although it remains to be seen whether City will budge, after the player put pen to paper on a five-year contract this year.
Pirates currently have Amigo Memela, Thembinkosi Lorch, Kudakwashe Mahachi, Vincent Pule, Thabo Qalinge and Meshack Maphangule on their books as wingers for the 2018/19 campaign, with competition in their attacking department currently on a high.
However, according to sources, Pirates are still keen to bring in Martin, having been impressed with the player’s progress since being introduced to the Premier Soccer League last season.
Martin made his Absa Premiership debut in September last year, where he went on to score his first league goal in November.
Now it remains to be seen whether Pirates will approach City with an offer for Martin in the January transfer window next year.
