Baroka FC extended their winless run in the Absa Premiership to six matches, after they played to a goalless draw with Free State Stars on Wednesday evening.
Onkabetse Makgantai almost grabbed the lead for Bakgaga in the third minute after going through on goal and lobbing Stars goalkeeper Badra Ali Sangare, but his effort missed the gaping net by inches.
After a quiet spell in the half, Ranga Chivaviro came close to breaking the deadlock for the hosts in the 25th minute with a curling low shot from the left side of the box, but Sangare produced a good save to keep the visitors in the contest.
Stars were absorbing the pressure after half-an-hour, looking for opportunities on counter-attacks but they were thwarted at every opportunity.
Luc Eymael’s charges failed to offer anything going forward towards the halftime break, although Baroka were let down by their decision-making.
Makgantai had a chance to break the deadlock for Bakgaga three minutes before the hour after beating two defenders inside the box before firing wide of the upright with only Sangare to beat.
The hosts were getting closer and closer to finding the breakthrough as the half went on, while Stars showed no attacking impetus at all and looked satisfied with the point.
Substitute Jemondre Dickens nearly snatched the winner for Baroka six minutes before time with a header inside the six-yard box that came off the crossbar.
That proved to be the final chance of the half as the two sides settled for a share of the spoils on the night, as Baroka are yet to taste victory since their win over Cape Town City on matchday two.
