Bongani Zungu says that he has hopes to get back playing again sooner than expected, with the former Mamelodi Sundowns man ahead of schedule.
The 26-year-old midfielder suffered a horrible injury while playing for Amiens back in September, and there were worries that his season could have been ruined due to the fact that he needed surgery on his knee.
Now though, with the end of 2018 upon us, Zungu says that his surgeon is happy with his progress, and that he could well get back in time for Bafana Bafana’s crucial African Cup of Nations qualifier against Libya in March.
Bafana need to avoid defeat in order to secure a spot at the 2019 AFCON in Cameroon, and the marauding midfield man is eager to try and play his part.
Speaking from France, Zungu told the Siya crew, “Yeah I’m getting stronger every day. I met my surgeon yesterday, and he is also happy with my progress and thinks I can be back sooner than expected.
“They think maybe late February or early March, and I’d love to be back to try and help Bafana v Libya in the AFCON qualifiers.”
His side have struggled in his absence, and Amiens will also be looking forward to seeing Zungu back on the field again as they look to make sure they avoid relegation from Ligue 1 once again
