Ernst Middendorp is already starting to plan for next season with Kaizer Chiefs, with a new face believed to have started training with the club recently.
It was reported that the club had identified young Giovanni Idi as a potential new signing following the exit of Virgil Vries, and it appears that the club is already taking a closer look at him.
Idi, who signed his first professional contract last year when he was snapped up by University of Pretoria after a fine showing in the Varsity Football tournament where he won the Golden Glove award, and the 19-year-old has since gone on to make his pro debut in the National First Division.
According to Siya sources, Middendorp and his Head of Goalkeeping, Lee Baxter, are having a closer look at Idi at present as they make plans for the 2019/20 season, despite the fact that they already have plenty of other shot-stoppers on their books.
Chiefs have Itumeleng Khune, Daniel Akpeyi, Bruce Bvuma, Brylon Petersen and Karabo Molefe even following the release of Vries, though the teenager may well be seen as one for the future as they plan long-term for life after Khune.
It remains to be seen how long Idi will get during his training spell at Naturena, however the crew will look to keep track of his progress as he considers the next step in his career.
