Dean Furman will sit out Bafana Bafana’s crucial Africa Cup of Nations fixtures against Namibia tonight – a precautionary measure to avoid him missing the final Group D game versus Morocco a few days later.
The midfield hardman set out two of the national team’s training sessions post their narrow 1-0 defeat in their tournament opener against Ivory Coast on Monday and either Hlompho Kekana or Bongani Zungu will take his place
Furman watched from the side lines as he nursed a knee injury from what might have been a collision with one of the Ivorian players during Monday’s game.
Furman was viewed as one of the outstanding players for Bafana in what was mostly a lacklustre performance by coach Stuart Baxter’s men.
Baxter is likely to make more than one forced change, however, when Bafana take on Namibia in a game they have to win to have any hopes of progressing to the last 16 of the competition here in Egypt.
