SuperSport United had five different scorers as they opened their campaign with a 5-1 demolition of Maritzburg United on Saturday morning at King Zwelithini Stadium. Oswin Appolis opened the scoring for Matsatsantsa in the second minute and Sthembiso Kurata made it 2-0 three minutes later. Knowledge Miyeni pulled a goal back for the Team of Choice in the sixth minute but that proved to be only a consolation goal as Bilal Baloyi, Tendamudzimu Matodzi and Khanyisile Mayo added further three goals to complete the rout.
Golden Arrows 1 – 4 Kaizer Chiefs
Kaizer Chiefs made a bright start to their MultiChoice Diski Challenge season as Sibusiso Milazi’s brace inspired them to a 4-1 thumping of Golden Arrows on Saturday afternoon at King Zwelithini Stadium. Abafana Bes’thende broke the deadlock in the 38th minute through Ngcebo Nala but Milazi found the equaliser for Arthur Zwane’s charges three minutes later before Kamohelo Hoala gave Chiefs a 2-1 lead two minutes before the break. Milazi completed his brace seven minutes after the break, as he made it 3-1 for the Glamour Boys while Yaseen Bunting rounded the thrashing in the 64th minute.
Bloemfontein Celtic 0-3 Mamelodi Sundowns
Bloemfontein Celtic started the defence of their title on a bad note after suffering a 3-0 defeat at the hands of Mamelodi Sundowns on Friday afternoon at King Zwelithini Stadium. Musawenkosi Mduli opened the scoring for Masandawana in the 16th minute before Promise Mkhuma netted a brace to round off the scoring. The Brazilians went up to fourth on the table with three points, while Siwelele are third from bottom and without points.
AmaZulu 0-1 Orlando Pirates
Orlando Pirates opened their campaign with a narrow 1-0 victory over AmaZulu on Friday afternoon at King Zwelithini Stadium. Simiso Bophela netted the only goal of the match for the Buccaneers.
