Orlando Pirates have provided an update on the Zambian international who is yet to play this season, after being signed during the off-season.
The Buccaneers announced the signing of Austin Muwowo in July, after the Soweto giants reached an agreement with Zambian club Nkana FC for his services.
On the weekend, Muwowo was named 2019 Zambian Footballer of the Year, following in the footsteps of Pirates teammate and countryman Augustine Mulenga, who won the award in 2017 after a superb season with Zanaco FC.
Muwowo, 22, has also been included in the 2019 Football Association of Zambia (FAZ) Team of the Year for his impressive perfomances while on loan at Forest Rangers last term.
With the winger yet to make his official debut for Pirates, the club has confirmed that the player has been getting himself ready in training with the team.
“The 22-year-old Muwowo, who was also included in the 2019 FAZ Team of the Year, has not yet played an official match for the Buccaneers but is currently training with the rest of the squad,” Pirates stated on the club’s official website.
Bucs are in search of their first win after three back-to-back losses in various competitions, when they take on AmaZulu in an Absa Premiership match at the King Zwelithini Stadium tonight, where Rhulani Mokwena and the technical team will aim to change the side’s fortunes.
