Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has implored his players to draw from the character of renowned boxing legend Floyd Mayweather against Cape Town City.
Sundowns dropped two valuable points after a 1-1 draw with Chippa United in Port Elizabeth last week and have a chance to regain their winning ways when host City in Atteridgeville tonight (19h30).
“It’s a big one. Totally different [from Bloemfontein Celtic game]. This one is toe to toe. We need to box like Mayweather. We need to be smart,” said Mosimane.
“We need to keep the energy for Saturday because it’s very important for us. Unfortunately this game [against Celtic] didn’t allow us to rest players.
“But I had to rest the captain because we need him for the next two games. Probably we need him for the Champions League game [more] than the Cape Town City game.
“Sometimes you have to gamble a little bit but sometimes it backfires. But it’s a marathon.”
The Brazilians have collected four points so far this season after beating SuperSport United and drawing with the Chilli Boys.
