Bidvest Wits have released three players by mutual consent on Monday, transfer deadline day.
Robyn Johannes, Fagrie Lakay and Prince Nxumalo have now become free agents as the Clever Boys made last minute changes to a squad that coach Gavin Hunt said had been affected by budget constraints ahead of the start of the 2019/20 season.
Johannes, a defender, arrived at Wits in July last year from Cape Town City to bolster their defense and managed 25 games in all competitions as the club missed out on the Absa Premiership and finished third on the table.
Attacker Fagrie Lakay, joined the Clever Boys from SuperSport United in January in a deal which involved striker Mxolisi Machupu going in the opposite direction on a loan deal, but the 22-year-old only managed five appearances.
Nxumalo made the least impact at the club – having been brought in at the start of the season from Ajax and now being let go barely two months since he arrived.
