Cape Town City will welcome Kaizer Chiefs back to the Mother City and this time it could be for revenge.
City will lock horns with the Soweto side in the last 16 of the Telkom Knockout cup competition and will be eager to do one better than their previous meeting.
The Citizens already lost their first league fixture against Amakhosi, with the Mother City-based club now out for revenge.
In fact, talking to City striker, Siphelele Mthembu – going as far back as last year’s Nedbank Cup competition, it was also Chiefs who knocked them out in the quarter-finals, with indications that this encounter will also be in the back of their minds come next week.
“I can say that (it’s revenge) – by the way, they even beat us in the Nedbank Cup (last year). Judging from that experience, we’ve seen at home how they beat us and this time we are ready for them, we are going to prepare well. This game, we just want to win and get our confidence back especially at home. We need to start to win games like last season,” Mthembu told the Siya crew.
