Pitso plea supporters to support Maboe.

Mamelodi Sundowns coach Pitso Mosimane has issued a heartfelt plea to the club supporters to back striker Lebo Maboe.

Having finished scored eight goals in 27 games and finished as the Brazilians’ top goalscorer last season, the former Maritzburg United attacker has managed just one so far this season and is anxious to add to his tally.

Mosimane was seen talking to a section of Downs supporters during their win over Bloemfontein Celtic on Wednesday, a game in which Maboe returned to the starting line-up but seemingly had a tough time.

“He was our top goalscorer last year and he is stressing this year to score, he is trying too hard and that is his challenge because he is trying to break the ice. And I know I don’t have a problem with someone who is trying to score, it just needs to come out,” Mosimane said to journalist when asked about the player.

“His emotions are very high and his anxiety is so big and sometimes the ball just falls on him. He is trying very hard to get there. We support him because he works hard. That’s why he is playing for us and is in the starting line-up. It takes time. Not this year, maybe next year. The supporters are on the edge and they want to win the league – we all have stress. I am keeping the supporters calm to support the player. You have to calm them now. We need Lebo to play.
