Former Orlando Piraes defender Tonic Chabalala is excited about the defensive changes expected to take place at the Soweto giants.
With indications that Pirates are favourites to land the signature of Bidvest Wits defender Thulani Hlatshwayo, Chabalala says he would be looking forward to seeing the partnership of the Bafana Bafana captain and Bucs’ veteran Happy Jele in the heart of defence for Josef Zinnbauer’s team.
Meanwhile, Chabalala has raised a concern about the future of Ntsikelelo Nyauza at the Buccaneers.
“I would be glad to see the centre-back pairing of Happy Jele and Tyson being put to test. Nyauza could be benched. I am not saying that Nyauza is not a good player but I don’t see him as a player that can lead the team,” said Chabalala.
So far this season, Nyauza has made 18 starts out of the 23 matches in the league for Bucs.
The 30-year-old ex-Platinum Stars player captained the Buccaneers when Jele was suspended earlier in the season.
