Ricardo Goss, the Clever Boys’ goalkeeper and his striker teammate Gift Motupa are understood to be in talks with the Brazilians over a switch to Chloorkop ahead of next season, and with the sale of the club confirmed last night things are moving at a frantic pace…
New owners TTM released a statement on Saturday that they had concluded the purchase of Wits’ topflight status and had applied to the Premier Soccer League to relocate the team to Thohoyandou for the 2020/21 season.
It was reported just over a week ago that Sundowns had made an initial offer of R17-million to Wits for three players – captain Thulani Hlatshwayo, Deon Hotto and young Haashim Domingo, but that’s hit a snag.
While it’s believed Domingo is close to signing a long-term contract there, both Hlatshwayo and Hotto look set to join Orlando Pirates instead.
Sundowns appear to have now turned their attention to Goss and Motupa, who they unsuccessfully tried to sign during the January transfer window.
This again depends on whether the players agree to the personal terms being offered, but given that Downs pride themselves in paying good salaries, the expectation is that both Goss and Motupa will put pen to paper.
