Chiefs explain, fake news circulating on social media

Kaizer Chiefs maintained that they will respect the confidentiality of the two players who recently tested positive for COVID-19.

Chiefs confirmed in a lengthy statement yesterday that 70 individuals at the club, including the technical team and players, were tested for the coronavirus in preparation for the return of the 2019/20 campaign.

Without revealing their names, the Soweto giants confirmed two positive cases at Naturena, adding that the infected duo will remain in self-isolation for two weeks.

However, Amakhosi have made yet another announcement following yesterday’s news, this time confirming that the identity of the players and the doctor will remain confidential and any speculation is regarded as ‘fake news’.

“The Club has reported two positive cases of COVID-19. We will respect the individuals and doctor confidentiality. Any speculation and names circulating online are FAKE NEWS. Thank you for the messages of support we have received,” Chiefs said on their official Twitter account.
