Amakhosi Ex- defender fihgting for survival

A former Kaizer Chiefs defender who left Naturena at the start of the current season for a fresh challenge abroad could end up relegated.

Teenage Hadebe will know his fate this coming weekend when Yeni Malatyaspor, the club he joined from Amakhosi late last year, go into the final game of the Turkish Super Lig season needing all three points – and favours elsewhere…

Malatyaspor are third from bottom on the log table and face Gaziantep FK on Sunday desperate for the full haul of points, while also hoping the two teams above them – but with a three points advantage – suffer defeat in their respective matches.

Their poor goal difference also makes the fight for survival all the more difficult.

Hadebe has actually had a decent first season in Turkey, playing 27 matches in all competitions, including a Europa League qualifying fixture.

The Zimbabwean put pen to paper on surprise a three-year deal at Malatyaspor when it was thought he’d continue to play longer at Amakhosi.

But he had been used sparingly by coach Ernst Middendorp prior to his departure, which was an opportunity not to miss, given he was headed abroad.

However, his first spell overseas could end up in relegation as the club heads into the final game of the league eager to see things go their way.
