Orlando Pirates are excited about their return to the Ellis Park Stadium

Orlando Pirates are excited about their return to the Ellis Park Stadium – the match venue they once dubbed the ‘House of Pain’ – when it hosted their home matches.

The Buccaneers will look to finish the season on a high after the impressive work done by the club’s head coach Josef Zinnbauer since taking over the reins in December.

Following the PSL’s confirmation of the home venues for Absa Premiership and GladAfrica Championship clubs for the resumption of the 2019/20 season, it was announced that the Buccaneers will have their games at Ellis Park Stadium – the venue they will be sharing with Golden Arrows.

In welcoming the move, Bucs have reminded their fans about one of their memorable matches there, which was a league clash against Mamelodi Sundowns in 2009, by posting a snippet of the video on social media with stars like Teko Modise and Katlego Mashego causing havoc.

In that match, Ruud Krol’s side showed class by beating the Brazilians 2-0 with goals from Mashego and Modise, despite finishing the game with 10 players after Lucky Lekgwathi had been red-carded.
